Tell us about Finlay

Hello there! My name is Finlay, and I live near one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland. I love spending time there with my bulldog, Bella, regardless of the weather. If you've been on a Teams call with me in the past four years, you likely have heard Bella snoring in the background! After working in banking for almost ten years, I transitioned to the energy market, and I have never looked back. Mondays have never felt like a burden. I consider my superpower to be people, and my success, has been down to making things better than I found them, supporting business growth within Stepwise and my other clients through my bespoke consultancy business. My son Reece is my proudest achievement. He recently started driving and has inherited my love of cars. When I'm not working, you can find me mountain biking with my oldest friends in the hills of North Scotland. And when I have some free time, I love to visit the West Coast to disconnect completely.

Why did you join Stepwise?

I have known many members of the Stepwise team for years, and I hold all of them in high regard. We are a diverse, handpicked group, each a leader in our respective fields, complementing each other well. There are no egos. This creates a great working environment where we can continuously learn and develop.

For many years, I have been involved in marketing drilling rigs globally, and I have developed a deep appreciation for the market and the people in it. I take immense pride in working within the oil and gas sector, an industry that plays a crucial role in our global economy. Equally, I am proud to be part of a team that is leading the way in emissions reduction. The challenge is high, but the wins are indisputable, and I am excited to be part of 
this journey.

What's your focus in Stepwise?

Despite what the media would have you believe, we will all be dependent on Oil and Gas for years to come, and by supporting our clients on their journey to net zero, we are making a fundamental difference in the marketplace by pushing the boundaries of technology to support carbon emission reduction. IOCs, NOCs, and independents all face the same challenge to reduce their footprint. This requires a fundamental change in operations; with our assistance, operators can establish a firm baseline and, from there, closely monitor operations where we can also suggest improvements while greatly improving the quality of the data reporting, be that to board level or indeed industry regulators.

I see my role as a facilitator, supporting the wells teams and drilling contractors' collaboration on their journey. A win for all parties.
